"The Thirteenth Guest (1932) DVD" Movie Poster
The Thirteenth Guest (1932) DVD
Description:
"This 1932 mystery has an intriguing plot in which a long-forgotten murder suddenly becomes the hot topic of discussion. The mystery deepens when investigators realize that the corpse found in the abandoned mansion was not that of the dead mans daughter, but that of an impersonator.
Director Albert Ray continues to enthrall audiences in this fascinating drama, which has the dashing Lyle Talbot playing a fast talking private detective on whom the police captain Ryan, (played by the equally accomplished J. Farrel MacDonald), depends heavily for solving difficult cases. The plot thickens by the minute, leaving you with very little time to guess whodunit. Just when you think you have got your man (or woman), the narrative presents you with a character that seems more likely to be the murderer.
The use of an electric devise to kill unsuspecting victim is truly a stroke of genius. The bumbling detective Grump provides some comic relief in an otherwise tense drama, which ends just as dramatically as it begins. The suspense is terrific throughout and you are assured of your moneys worth half way through the story. The lead characters are well supported by the rest of the cast whom the director has handled with great insight and sensitivity. Witness this delightful drama that will keep you engrossed like few other mystery movies from the 30s. A2ZCDS have brought this old Hollywood Classic feature films on DVD.""This 1932 mystery has an intriguing plot in which a long-forgotten murder suddenly becomes the hot topic of discussion.
