When I first saw a preview for this film and saw the cast that had been put together I thought to myself, this has to be good. When you have Denzel Washington, Clive Owens, and Jodie Foster, you have to have something good right? WRONG. This movie was terrible.
I waited through the first hour of it just for something important to happen. The only thing that happened was the bad guys took over the bank. Denzel Washington plays the chief negotiator on the scene, and he does nothing but wait around for the first hour of the movie. Jodie Foster was completely unbelievable in her role. I thought Denzel, and Clive Owens did ok for what they had to work with, but trust me, that wasn’t much. At the end of the movie (don’t worry, I wont give it away) they try and surprise you and it just doesn’t work. There is no way that, what happens, could have happened. It is just so unbelievable that I couldn’t believe they tried it in a movie.
Trust me when I say that this was one of the most boring, and unrealistic bank heist movies I have ever seen. They try hard to develop the characters during the time in the first hour of the film when nothing is happening, and even try and throw in a touch of racial tension, but it is done in a way that doesn’t work, and just feels akward.
