Click
Description:
Click tells the story of overworked Michael Newman, (Adam Sandler), an architect so wrapped up in his job because of his boss (David Hasselhoff), that his family is forced to take the backseat. This particularly frustrates his wife (Kate Beckinsale). But when he goes to a Bed, Bath and Beyond store, Michael finds himself in the "Way Beyond" section, where he meets Morty (Christopher Walken), an eccentric inventor. Morty gives Michael a one-of-a-kind universal remote control which Michael believes to be an ordinary remote. To his amazement he realizes that the universal remote is literally universal. It allows him to fast-forward, rewind, and even pause his own life and quite possibly have the life he's been neglecting. With this newfound product a savior to Michael, he might just get to enjoy life... until the remote starts acting up in a way Michael can't control and forces him to deal with the consequences of his actions.

What would you do if you had the power to fast forward, rewind, and pause your life. That is the dilemma that Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) faces in the new comedy Click. I mean think of the possibilities. You no longer would have to sit through and experience a fight with your wife. All those family dinners that you hate, would no longer be a problem, you would never have to experience being sick again. Simply FF, until you are feeling better. Sounds perfect right? Well the problem is that the remote control is so smart that it remembers what parts of your life you skipped and it assumes that you will always want to skip them. It's kind of like a TIVO system that remembers the types of shows you record. It then randomly starts recording shows that are similar because it thinks it knows your tastes better than you. However, what happens when one day you wake up, and you are now 10 years older? Again this is the problem that Michael Newman faces.
Let’s face it; once you've seen an Adam Sandler movie, you have pretty much seen them all. The first half of this movie starts out like all the rest. Adam Sandler is well, Adam Sandler. The first hour or so is very funny just like most of his work. From his loud temper tantrums, to his dog having intercourse with a stuffed animal, but then all of a sudden the movie and its tone pull a 180 on you. All of a sudden the movie becomes serious, with a very serious point. Yes there are still funny moments, but it is more for the purpose of trying not to slow the film down to much. This film makes an attempt to teach us how important it is to appreciate the little things in life. The dinner with the family, the small fights with your spouse, playing with the kids, because before you know it, the opportunities can all be gone, and the movie succeeds with its message. By far, Adam Sandler’s best work yet.
