This movie was too long. There was plot where there didn't need to be. It's called King Kong. Bring on the monkey. Other than the sheer lengh of this movie, it was interesting at best. Special effects can only carry it so far. They were, by the way, great. I think that they tried to make Kong way too smart. There were parts where he was almost joking. If he was as smart as they made him out to be, he would be wearing pants made out of skinned natives.

I have to agree.  this movie was way to long.  I thought it took to long for them to get to the island too.  I mean it was almost an hour into the movie before you even saw or heard Kong.  The special affects were great, but there was one scene when the group was going out looking to save the girl from kong, and they fell into this pit.  All of a sudden they were being attacked by all these creatures.  I dont know about you guys, but to me it almost looked like Peter Jackson had some left overs from the Lord of the Rings movies, and didnt know what to do with them, so he just used them in Kong.  I liked it, but it probably could have been about a half hour shorter adn been a better movie.  Remember, 2 1/2 hour movie is still a long movie.  We dont always need to break the 3 hours barrier

ok so i just watched this movie again the other night, and I have to say that i was even more dissapointed in it than i was when i first saw it in the theatre.  In my last post about this, i gave it many props on great special effects.  The monkey looked good, but other than that a lot of the effect were just terrible.  There is a scene that takes place shortly after the group gets to the island.  They are searching for the girl, and they start running from the dino's.  That looked terrible.  The Dinosaurs looked good, as did the people running, but when you put them together, you could tell it was all done infront of a green screen.  I mean with the technology that is out there today, there is no need for this.  I mean lets look at the newest star wars movies.  they were done almost entirely infront of green screens but you couldnt really tell.  It also looked bad when adrian brody was being attacked by bugs and the other guy there shot them all off with a machine gun.  come on now, the kid didnt aim, he just shot.  there is no way he doesnt hit Adrian brody with a bullet or 2 or 20.  As a whole, i was just very dissapointed with the work by Peter Jackson.  he gained so much respect from me with the Lord of the Rings, and with King Kong it just didnt seem like he had the same motivation.  He is a better director than Kong showed, and i just hope he learns from it.

I know I am a little late with this one.  I also thought this movie was way too long, and the special effects lacked in certain areas.  There wasn't much to like about this movie.  I mean come on, I realize the boat trip took a long time but it did not have to take up so much of the movie time.  A simple "One Week Later"  or "Five Days Later" would have sufficed.
Oh and that machine gun scene really got my goat too.  There is no way that could happen.  I know it is supposed to be a larger than life movie but come on now!! Tongue

I have to agree with all the post so far.
Way too long and the part with Kong runing with the girl in his hands was so silly she would have been dead.
I know they were trying to make Kong look as real as they could but that was lame.
