Film Reviews from Amber Rich:
Spider-man 3 ( Action & Adventure )
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
Comments:I give this movie 3 stars mainly because of the action. It definitely is the most exciting of the three films! Venom and Sandman were EXCELLENT villains. It was interesting to see Peter Parker/Spiderman's change after getting victimized by that black goop (sorry, can't think of a more technical name for it) - but some of the changes that Parker went through were pretty darn cheesy. I was almost embarrased that Tobey Maguire had to act that way. Although I do understand why-he's supposed to be completely opposite of the way he was before. I'm not a big fan of Kirsten Dunst, and her acting is why I'm giving this movie 3 stars instead of 4. Loved the film though, it definitely did NOT disappoint, action-wise.
Eragon ( Science Fiction & Fantasy )
![]() | ![]() |
Comments:Eragon, while entertaining, simply tried to hard to be "Lord of the Rings" - and fell way short. Mostly, it lacked character development. For example, Eragon loses family member and the movie tries to make you feel like it's such a tragic event...but it really doesn't feel like it is. And I've heard that the movie doesn't stick too close to the book. There was also one flaw in there that I couldn't get past, the helmet that was shown to Eragon that was supposed to be given to Saphira is a completely different helmet than the one that she actually wore. A GLARING mistake. It was Stefen Fangmeier's directorial debut...and it had the mark of a rookie. Jeremy Irons does not disappoint though.
Poseidon ( Action & Adventure )
![]() |
Comments:This was quite possibly one of the worst movies I saw over the last year. I'm giving it a star because some of the action scenes were done pretty well....but the plot was lacking in character development and some scenes just didn't make sense. The original was about 9.7 times better.

Has anyone else seen this film? I just saw it last weekend...I wanted to see "Blood Diamond" but it was 3 against 1 for Deja Vu.
I went in expecting another Denzel action film...and it was, of course. However, I thought it was VERY well shot, and the storyline drags you in from the very first minute. It's directed by Tony Scott, the same guy that directed Denzel in "Man on Fire", but this was a far better film.
There are some spots that were a little hard to follow, but how it all wraps together in a "deja vu" type-moment is VERY intriguing. Definitely worth the money.
Plus, it's got Val Kilmer....so nice to see him in something else after his stellar performance in "Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang".
I totally agree with you, B!!!! I was expecting more comedy (basically because it's Will Farrell), but walked away very pleased with his acting. It shows that he is not a character actor and only good with "silly" movies. Not saying there's anything wrong with "silly" movies, I love them in fact...it's how I'd define his previous characters though.
He has become one of my favorite actors, mainly because this film really showed his range. And I loved Maggie Gylenhaal! She rocks!
Loved it, loved it!
I loved this movie! It tugged at my heartstrings like "Rudy" did. And it was a great film to watch right before the football season began!!!!
I thought Mark Wahlberg did a GREAT job! And I hope to someday know stats like his soon-to-be-wife in the film did! (even if she was a Giants fan!)
Two thumbs way up in my book :)
